Our woodland thinnings convert sustainably to seasoned hardwood logs for ourselves and for sale.

All smaller arisings including hedge-laying waste are suitable for pyrolyzing into charcoal in our Exeter Retort Kiln. This was a new venture for 2017 and we have been pleased with the high-quality results we have produced so far.

90% of charcoal sold in the UK is currently from overseas and much is sourced from tropical forests, damaging precious natural ecosystems which cannot be replaced. Our sustainable local production conserves global resources and reduces the impact on the environment.

Active management of coppice, native hedgerows and broadleaved woodland benefits wildlife and ecology and allows us this sustainable source of wood for our firewood and charcoal production. In addition, our Retort Kiln is fired up using all waste wood from our fencing contracts.
